Psychology Placement Information for Prospective Students
The Comprehensive Psychological Assessment Centre (CPAC) offers limited places for students aiming to undertake supervised psychology work towards their registration, or as part of their post graduate course work requirement. Our expectations from prospective students are high, but in return we offer supportive and individually focused supervision, comfortable working environment and exposure to all aspects of professional assessments.
OUR EXPECTATIONS FROM PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS
At CPAC we strive for excellence and we value hard work. This means providing the highest quality assessments and reporting services for our clients.
If you are thinking about a possible placement opportunity with us, please read our requirements first. To apply for a position with us, we expect the following:
-
Exceptional work ethics. We understand that students have multiple responsibilities,
but you will be required to complete at least two assessments per week, including
two detailed reports.
-
Working knowledge of statistics. We don't expect you to be a statistician, but we
expect you to know the basics of statistical methods and be able to apply this
knowledge to interpret (or to learn how to interpret) test results.
-
Good writing skills. You will be expected to write approximately 4000 words high
quality reports per week. At times the reports may require more. If you don't
think that you can fit this into a 20 hrs/week schedule (including 6 hours assessment time and possible reading/research time), you should not apply.
-
Willingness to learn. The initial learning curve with CPAC is usually quite steep.
It can feel overwhelming to learn all the new information and an eager and open
attitude is helpful. Of course, we are here to support you and help you learn and
we will try our best to give you a valuable placement experience.
